Highlights from London Design Week 2024.

Last week, one of the most exciting shows within the interior design calendar kicked off with the annual event at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour – London Design Week.

Brimming with inspiration, insights and creative ideas, London Design Week showcases the newest product launches for the spring/summer season, and it was a fantastic opportunity for the team to interact with industry insiders and the media.

With over 600 brands under one roof, there was plenty to see at this year’s event. Here is a round-up of our highlights from London Design Week 2024.

Cole & Son

Since 1875, Cole & Son has been creating original and exceptional wallcoverings and the showroom is a must-visit highlight at the Design Centre for many designers and press. With a passionate commitment to design excellence, its in-house studio continues to create beautiful wallcoverings and fabrics with intricate detailing, combining colour and pattern for a distinctive look. For London Design Week, Cole & Son celebrated one of its most beloved design icons: Hummingbirds,’ the diminutive figures that have become the design house’s greatest hero.

The romantic floral print depicting delicate birds perched on flowers and foliage is available in two new designs, Hummingbirds Flora – and co-ordinating all-over trial design – Flora – which are hand-painted at Cole & Son’s flagship in London. The delicate, hand-rendered watercolours create an expansive scene of these beautiful birds in their unique flight.

Charged with history and character, Hummingbirds is elegance in a print. Its timeless design combines classic printing methods and incorporates new textiles in crisp cottons and raw silks as well as a modernity of palette and hue.

GP & Barker x Kit Kemp

British interior designer, and founder of Firmdale Hotels, Kit Kemp MBE has partnered with fabric and wallpaper company, GP & J Baker on their first wallpaper and fabric collection. Introducing a contemporary collection that blends Kit Kemp’s signature style with GP & J Baker’s rich design heritage. The collection features intriguing new prints, wallpapers, artisanal stripes, embroideries, and a range of plain linens, all infused with Kemp’s flair for colour and storytelling. Consisting of seven vibrant and versatile designs, this recent collaboration fuses together two powerhouses, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship.

One of our highlights from the collection is ‘Robina’s Dinner Party,’ a whimsical masterpiece of hand-painted folkloric plates, each depicting a different animal. This design from the collection plays homage to one of Kit Kemp MBE’s favourite ceramists, Robina Jack. With a series of animals, including dogs, horses, and rabbits all set against a patterned border, this standout wallpaper is full of colour and detail, it is sure to make a joyful statement in any home.

London Basin Company

Handmade using traditional and contemporary craft processes, London Basin Company, founded by mother and daughter, creates richly decorated porcelain basins, designed to form the centrepiece of bathrooms and cloakrooms. The collection, which also includes taps, vanities, and mirrors, can be mixed and matched to create a unique space. We were lucky to be one of the first in the showroom to preview its newest vanity unit. Featuring reeded fluted panels with scalloped edges in a dusky pink, the super stylish vanity was paired with the new Reuben, a wall-mounted tap in brushed gold with cross-knurled handles in chrome.

Brand new to the harbour, was Jaipur Rugs. Its business model empowers communities within India with a sustainable livelihood – allowing them to give back to their community. Steeped in tradition, Jaipur Rugs brings together the 2500-year-old weaving technique with sustainability and design, to create beautiful Indian rugs with a contemporary twist.
