Having recently completed the Italian Ambassador’s residence, a dazzling project that celebrates Italy’s rich design legacy, Vinson was well versed in the creative needs of a diplomatic environment. He was therefore commissioned to design the Embassy’s new offices, a project that feels less like a workplace and more like an expression of Italian identity. Dubbed ‘Casa Italia,’ the new Embassy offices bring together warmth, colour, and creativity – a love letter to the beauty of Italy.
Stepping inside Casa Italia, a series of thoughtfully designed rooms are revealed, each showcasing its own character. Rather than a uniform workplace, the embassy contributes to a cohesive vision of contemporary Italian design. First impressions come from the warm, welcoming reception, which is more akin to an elegant residence, than an embassy setting. The meeting rooms are not only balanced in functionality but they’re also tastefully decorated, with colour flowing throughout, from the office rooms to the lounge spaces, creating an environment that feels inviting and filled with comfort.

During the talk with Rosa Bertoli, colour was a key theme mentioned as it plays a huge role within this project. Designer Nick Vinson advised the audience, “not to be afraid of colour,” and this philosophy is evident throughout the interiors of the embassy. From the bold palettes to the layered textures, whimsical wallpaper and thoughtfully placed artwork, all these key elements of colour add depth and personality to the project.

Craftsmanship is key to Italian design, and so fittingly, it sits at the heart of this project. Working closely with the Moltenti&C team, the embassy interiors showcase the precision, quality, and innovation synonymous with Italian furniture design. Natural materials and tactile finishes further enhance the sensory experience, creating interiors that feel authentic, warm, and deeply connected to Italian heritage.

Sculptural seating, elegant storage solutions, and carefully selected furnishings bring both functionality and visual refinement to the spaces. Each piece contributes to a broader narrative of design heritage, reinforcing Italy’s global reputation for material quality and aesthetic sophistication.
The collaboration reflects a wider ambition behind Casa Italia: to present Italian design not simply as a visual reference, but as a living expression of culture, expertise, and identity.
